Frequently Asked Questions for Amethyst Events — Seattle Wedding & Event Planning

Hiring & Fit

A little bit of everything — and quite a lot behind the scenes.

We help you take all of the ideas, decisions, vendors, logistics, details, and moving pieces of an event and turn them into one thoughtful, cohesive plan. That can mean building a realistic budget, finding the right vendors, developing your design, creating timelines, anticipating challenges, managing logistics, and making sure everything comes together when it matters most.

But ultimately, our job is bigger than managing details. We create the structure that allows you to be present for the experience you worked so hard to create.

There really isn’t one perfect time.

Some couples hire us at the very beginning because they want a professional beside them from the first decision. Others come to us partway through planning when they realize they need more guidance, and our Wedding Day Management couples may have planned much of their celebration themselves before handing the logistics over to us.

If planning is beginning to feel overwhelming, you’re unsure what comes next, or you simply want an experienced person in your corner, it’s probably a good time to talk.

Venue coordinators are incredibly valuable, and we love working alongside them. But we have different jobs.

Your venue coordinator’s primary responsibility is the venue — its staff, policies, catering, spaces, and operations. Our responsibility is you and your event as a whole.

We’re looking at your complete vendor team, timeline, design, setup, personal details, wedding party, family, guest experience, transitions throughout the day, and all of the little things happening between those pieces.

The best events happen when your venue team and planning team work together, each taking care of what they do best.

We certainly think so — but not simply because we’re taking tasks off your list.

You’re investing in experience, organization, advocacy, problem-solving, and someone who can see around corners because we’ve done this before.

More importantly, you’re protecting your ability to experience your own celebration.

You shouldn’t be answering vendor questions while you’re getting dressed, wondering whether the tables are set correctly during cocktail hour, or checking the timeline when you should be laughing with the people you love.

Presence is part of the investment.

First, we want to get to know you.

We’ll learn about your celebration, where you are in the planning process, what you’re excited about, what might be stressing you out, and where you feel you need support.

Then we’ll schedule a consultation where we can talk more deeply about your vision and priorities, answer your questions, and determine which level of service makes the most sense.

Fit matters to us. Planning a wedding is personal, and we want you to feel comfortable with the people you’re trusting to walk through it with you. Ready to chat?

Absolutely.

Amethyst Events proudly celebrates LGBTQ+ couples and welcomes celebrations that don’t fit neatly inside traditional wedding expectations.

We believe your wedding should reflect who you actually are — not who the wedding industry tells you you’re supposed to be.

Traditions can be honored, reimagined, combined, skipped entirely, or replaced with something that feels more meaningful to you. Our job is to listen, understand what matters, and help create a celebration where you and the people you love feel seen, respected, welcomed, and cared for.

Amethyst Events is a team, which allows us to serve more than one couple while still giving each celebration its own dedicated planning team.

We are very intentional about our calendar, staffing, and assignments. When we accept an event, we make sure the right team and resources are available to give that celebration the attention it deserves.

Growth has never been about fitting as many weddings onto the calendar as possible. It’s about building a team we trust to deliver the same level of care our clients expect from Amethyst.

Both.

To us, design isn’t simply about making something beautiful. It’s about creating an environment that feels like you.

We look at color, texture, florals, rentals, stationery, lighting, layout, guest experience, and all of the visual details together so they tell one cohesive story.

Some couples come to us with an incredibly specific vision. Others know exactly how they want their wedding to feel but have no idea what that looks like yet.

Both are wonderful places to begin.

Yes. In fact, we consider the consultation an important part of the process.

This is our opportunity to hear about your celebration, understand your priorities, answer questions, and talk honestly about where you need support.

It’s also your opportunity to get to know us.

We want you to leave that conversation feeling informed and confident — whether or not Amethyst ultimately ends up being the right fit. Reach out today and get the conversation going!

Services & Process

We offer three primary levels of wedding planning support:

Wedding Day Management, Partial Planning, and Full-Service Planning.

Each is designed for a different point in the planning journey and a different level of involvement.

We also offer design support and customized services when a celebration requires something outside of those core packages.

The goal isn’t to sell you the biggest package. It’s to understand where you genuinely need support and make sure you’re investing in the right kind of help.

It starts with you.

Before we start recommending vendors or building timelines, we want to understand your priorities: what matters most to you, what you’re excited about, what you’re worried about, and most importantly, how you want this experience to feel.

From there, we create structure around that vision.

Depending on your service level, that may include budgeting, vendor recommendations, design development, logistics, timelines, venue walkthroughs, and ongoing planning support.

As the wedding approaches, all of those individual pieces become one cohesive plan — so when the day finally arrives, you can stop planning it and start living it.

As involved as you want to be.

Some of our couples absolutely love planning. Give them a spreadsheet and they’re happy. Others would happily hand us the spreadsheet and never look at it again.

Most fall somewhere in between.

We learn how you make decisions, how you prefer to communicate, what parts of planning bring you joy, and which parts you’d rather have help carrying.

There’s no gold star for doing everything yourself.

Yes, depending on your planning package.

We help identify vendors who align with your priorities, personality, aesthetic, logistics, and budget — not simply whoever happens to be on a preferred list.

We can help you compare options, understand proposals and contracts, and look at how each vendor fits into the larger event.

A great vendor team isn’t just a collection of talented people. It’s a group of professionals who work well together toward the same goal.

Absolutely.

We’re happy to meet you wherever you are in the process.

If you’ve already assembled part or all of your vendor team, we’ll get to know them, understand what’s already been decided, and build from there.

Great planning is collaborative, and we’re always happy to work with both longtime industry partners and people we’ve never worked with before.

Budget & Investment

Planning investment depends on the level of support you need and the complexity of your celebration.

Our services range from Wedding Day Management for couples who have handled much of the planning themselves to comprehensive Full-Service Planning for clients who want us beside them throughout the entire process.

We’re transparent about pricing and what is included so you understand exactly what you’re investing in before we begin.

We have intentionally built our core services around the ways our clients most commonly need support, but every event is different.

When additional support or a unique planning need falls outside of a standard package, we’re happy to talk about what makes sense.

We’d rather understand what you actually need than add services simply for the sake of adding them.

Yes — and one of the most important things we can help you do is prioritize it intentionally.

A wedding budget isn’t only a list of numbers. It’s a reflection of what matters most to you.

We’ll help you understand realistic costs, identify where your investment will have the greatest impact, recommend vendors at appropriate price points, and make thoughtful choices when priorities compete.

Not everything has to be the most expensive option to feel elevated. Often, luxury is simply the feeling that something has been considered and cared for.

Our core planning services are offered at a flat fee, so you’ll understand your planning investment upfront.

If your celebration requires additional services outside the scope of your package, we’ll discuss those clearly with you before moving forward.

Event Types

Weddings are at the heart of what we do, but Amethyst also supports other meaningful gatherings and celebrations.

No matter the event, our approach remains the same: understand why people are gathering, determine what matters most, and create an experience that feels thoughtful, organized, welcoming, and intentional.

Absolutely.

Guest count doesn’t determine how meaningful an event is — and intimate celebrations often create opportunities for incredibly thoughtful experiences.

Whether there are 40 people in the room or 200, we’re thinking about how the celebration flows, how guests experience it, and how you feel while you’re in it.

(Check out some of our recent weddings on our Porfolio page!)

Yes, depending on the location, scope, and logistics involved.

Multi-day and destination celebrations often require additional layers of planning, so we’ll talk through what you’re envisioning and determine the appropriate level of support and staffing.

Logistics & Support

Many of our events have multiple Amethyst team members onsite.

Weddings rarely happen in one place at one time. While one person is with you, someone else may need to be checking in vendors, overseeing setup, cueing transportation, preparing another space, or making sure the next part of the timeline is ready.

We staff events based on what the celebration actually requires so there are enough capable hands — and thoughtful humans — in the right places at the right times.

We handle it.

And whenever possible, you’ll never know it happened.

Events involve people, weather, transportation, food, flowers, technology, timelines, and approximately a thousand tiny variables. Something changing doesn’t mean the day is going wrong.

Our job is to assess what’s happening, communicate with the right people, find the best solution, and keep the experience moving.

You hired us so those problems don’t become yours to solve.

With preparation, communication, and flexibility.

A good timeline gives us structure. A great planning team knows when that structure needs to bend.

We anticipate contingencies, communicate closely with your vendor team, and make thoughtful adjustments when circumstances change.

The goal isn’t to force the day to follow a piece of paper perfectly. The goal is to protect the experience.

Local & Practical

Amethyst Events is based in the Seattle area and serves weddings and events throughout the greater Puget Sound and Western Washington.

We also travel for celebrations outside our typical service area when the location and logistics are a good fit.

We have wonderful relationships with venues and vendors throughout the region, but our recommendations aren’t one-size-fits-all.

The right photographer for one couple may not be the right photographer for another. The same is true of venues, florists, caterers, DJs, and every other member of your team.

We recommend professionals based on your priorities, personality, aesthetic, budget, and the experience you’re trying to create.

And we genuinely love discovering new people to work with.

Yes. Amethyst Events carries professional liability insurance.

Still have questions?

You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out.

In fact, that’s kind of the point.

Tell us what you’re dreaming about, what you’ve already planned, what’s keeping you up at night, or simply what you don’t know yet.

We’ll meet you where you are.

Because thoughtful planning isn’t about creating a “perfect” wedding.

It’s about creating enough care, intention, and structure around the day that when it finally arrives, you get to be there for it.
